Things to Note at the South County Senior Center

The South County Senior Center was recently awarded the AARP Flagship Grant – our application was one of 5,100 applications submitted nationwide. Only 750 grants were awarded for 2026. This $15,000 grant will provide residents of Deerfield, Sunderland, and Whately, Massachusetts with emergency kit bags. Contents for the emergency kit bags were submitted with input from our local police departments and would include mylar blankets, water treatment, flashlights, batteries, and other items. The application process is simple. Fill out the attached form, but you must meet the following criteria to be considered. • You must be a resident of Deerfield, Sunderland or Whately, Massachusetts • Be age 50 or older • Submit your application by Noon on Friday, November 6th . If you meet these criteria, please fill out your application and return it to staff at the South County Senior Center either in person or by mail by 12 PM on Friday, November 6, 2026.
